The end of the year is near, my dear.
Friday night Tom and I went to Barnes and Noble to use my holiday gift card. I got A Thousand Splendid Suns, Three Cups of Tea, and Guns, Germs and Steel. New books!
I just got two books that I am excited about. THe NY Times Guide to Essential Knowledge and The Year of Magical Thinking, by Joan Didion. Hopefully I will have some time to read during the holiday. Katie and I started a book club/swap, since we read a lot of the same books, and I told my friend Lauren about it and she wanted to do it too. So I am excited. Today was the Race for Richie, a 5k organized by Laney high school senior James Cook. Richie is a family friend of James’ who is fighting leukemia. A lot of exciting things have happened this past month. Paste Magazine chose Tom as one of their Recommended Artists for Dec. 07/Jan. 08 (check it out here) and as a result his CDs are in 60 independent music retailers across the US.
